Subject does not make a film – Day 2517

When I reviewed the Marathi film Addkitta, somebody commented on the post that I must watch Baapya. I did. Featuring Girish Kulkarni and Rajshri Deshpande, with Rajshri playing a trans man, Baapya is the recipient of several awards at the recently held Pune International Film Festival. It is the story of a woman who has always felt and behaved like a man. Unable to share her turmoil with anyone, she finally liberates herself after becoming a doctor and undergoing sex change operation. Good idea but poorly executed that leaves me cold and unengaged.
