It was a revelation to watch Aakhri Safar, available on YouTube where a Gujarati Hindu man, Praful has been in the service of providing coffins to catholic families. The documentary features members of Praful’s family and explores how they feel about his job. Important issues are raised and reasoned. The superstition attached with death and dead bodies which Praful’s family considered inauspicious. There are issues of religion, mortality, and dignity. Praful has flirted with many professions in the past but making coffins and ensuring the final rites for the Catholics is what he finds most gratifying.
