SCRajani & Family
In the sixties if a girl was not married by the age of 25 it was a cause of alarm for the parents. Irrespective of how well educated she was and empowered in a self-sufficient job, her single status was a discussion among the extended family members and extended relatives. My parents were hell bent on an educated groom and finally, Chandu Rajani, an electronic engineer settled in Germany, arrived in India with the sole purpose of getting married.

Sending Jiji to Ahmedabad was bad enough for my parents and to send off Sarla all the way to Germany was like cutting off the umbilical cord forever.
Sarla survived the extreme climate, shift in culture, a new language and a lifestyle. Things improved when the children arrived, first Sona then Ritesh. Unlike her cousins Sona found her soulmate, Pete and Ritesh is still waiting for the right partner, so comparatively, they are a small family as yet.
