Time was when Bharat Natyam dance was only performed at the sabhas and inside the temples. Today, the dance form has many interpretations. I witnessed an unusual experiment with the art form called The Endless Mind which is an abstract dance and musical exploration of Annamacharya’s 15th century Telugu poems.

Choreographed by the prominent dancer Aranyani Bhargav, this 50-minute ballet depicts the poetry and the deconstruction within the Bharatanatyam dance form. The poems are both restless and meditative and reflect his mind state. The dance, music, light and poetry ultimately come together with a common vision and understanding to honour the deeply introspective and philosophical musings of the reflective poet Annamacharya.
