Maa Ganga is a goddess and the daughter of Mountain Himavan. Ganga is immensely beautiful and was given away to thedevtas. At Bhagiratha‘s request, she assumed the form of a river and flowed down from the mountains to the earth. She was unstoppable and nly Lord Shiva could control her force by tying her in his top knot.
