Bhadra, also referred to as Yakshi, Chhavi, Riddhi and Manorama,Nidhi,Sahadevi. Daughter
of an asura named Mura and the wife of demigod, Kubera, younger brother of Ravana, she is
also known as Kuberi, the goddess of auspiciousness.
Bhadra and Kubera led a happy married life and were parents to three sons; Nalakuvara,
Manigriva, Mayuraja, and a daughter named Minakshi.
As per the legend, Ravana one day saw Bhadra by the lake and was fascinated by her beauty.
He tried to grab her in his arms and Bhadra was alarmed by his audacity. She escaped him
somehow but complained of Ravana’s misconduct to her husband. Lord Kuber was so
affronted that he moved his family out of Lanka to Alkapuri but before leaving, cursed
Ravana that he will be demolished if he touches any without her consent.
This is the reason why Ravana captures Sita but does not touch her. He proposes marriage to
Sita time and again and every time Sita declines him.
