“To be honest, I saw Elizabeth as Indira Gandhi” continued Shekhar Kapur, “The more powerful she got the more vulnerable she became. The woman unfortunately was over powered by the grandeur of the film the costumes and the sets as a result the love the love story got diminished. This happens with big scale films, it is unavoidable”.
Post Four Feathers Shekhar Kapur got accustomed to working with foreign crew and was all the time learning through observations. He said in Hollywood it was unacceptable that actors come unprepared for a shoot while Indian actors never prepared in the olden days. They relied on emotion quotient and delivered spontaneous, competent performances. Shekhar confessed that he now looked at our chaos way of making films with new respect. “There, everybody is figuring out what is in the director’s mind. Back home artistes just submit to the director because they trust he will do his best. Isn’t that amazing?”
