They say it takes a village to make a film because the problems a filmmaker goes through are
never articulated. Recently director Anubhav Sinha expressed his plight at the 11th India
International Film Tourism Conclave (IIFTC) shared compelling insights on the expectations
when engaging with film commissions across various states. The panel included esteemed
representatives from the Film Cells of Gujarat, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Bihar. The
conversation focused on the process of film permissions, production logistics, and state
incentives.
Sinha described the film city’s all-encompassing environment as “ideal” for both filmmakers
and crew, providing facilities that range from star accommodations to crew accommodations,
production offices, and equipment rentals, all in a self-contained ecosystem. This one-stop
setup allows producers and directors to focus on their work without being bogged down by
logistical challenges. According to Sinha, the film industry could benefit greatly from similar
film-friendly environments in other states and one must seriously consider implementing it as
soon as possible.
