Kathak queen Uma Dogra follows a tradition of hosting a 2 day dance festival called Sam Ved @Raindrops in memory of her late guru Shri Durgalalji. Last year the festival was held at the Amphi Theatre in Juhu and this year it was at Bhavans Cultural Centre in Andheri. Attended by dancers from different art forms the theatre was packed with lovers of dance who were treated to magnificent performances from all over the country.
Every dancer was felicitated with a shawl and a rudraksh mala after her performance and she touched the feet of all the gurus seated in the front row. During the interval everyone was happy to mingle with each other, the youngsters bent to touch the feet of the seniors, the students rushed to get a glimpse of their guru. There were children, youngsters and also seniors with walking sticks and everyone waited till the end.
On the second day the finale was sparkling and Uma Dogra made a concluding speech that will be difficult to forget. Raindrops will be eagerly awaited next year because SamVed does not compromise on quality.
