Keshava: A Magnificent Obsession : Day 2894

By Uncategorized

My second book on Krishna to not confuse it with the first is called Keshava: A Magnificent Obsession. Everyone who comes into contact with the deity, consciously or subconsciously- becomes consumed by him. He becomes the center of their universe. This happens with not just human beings but also other living creatures.

Everyone who comes into contact with Him believes that Lord Krishna loves them the most

Keshava: A Magnificent Obsession is the story of these special bindings, of eight breathing wonders of nature – the Peacock, the Flute, the Kadamba tree, the Lotus flower, the Tulsi plant, the Kamadhenu cow, the Conch and the Peepal tree.

Why and how are they associated with the deity and why do we continue to worship all of them over the centuries?

Krishna: The God who lived as Man – Day 2893

In the year 2008 I was in between jobs when I happened to listen to an audio presentation of author Kajal Oza Vaidya’s Gujarati book Krishnayaan describing his relationship with the three women in his life – Radha, Rukmini and Draupadi.

I fell in love with the recitation and instantly offered to translate the book into English.

I began working on the book feverishly because all of us – the author, publisher and me agreed that the English translation should be released on the Janmashtami day in Mumbai.

I’m still under the spell of the magnetic deity and believe that I was the chosen one for the task.

It is not a coincidence that Lord Krishna is the eighth child of his parents. I am the eighth child of my parents. Krishna: The God who lived as Man is my eighth book and released in the year 2008.

Directed by the visionary Eli Roth, and inspired by the best-selling video game series, this film promises an action-packed cinematic experience with a star-studded cast, including Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Ariana Greenblatt, Edgar Ramirez and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Set in the chaotic world of Pandora, Borderlands follows the gripping journey of Lilith (Cate Blanchett), a legendary outlaw on a mission to rescue the missing daughter of the most powerful man in the universe, Atlas. As she returns to her homeland, Lilith teams up with an unlikely crew of misfits, igniting a thrilling adventure filled with high-octane action and unexpected alliances.

One of the film’s standout characters is Tiny Tina, portrayed by the charismatic Ariana Greenblatt. Tiny Tina’s boundless energy and unpredictable nature injects a vibrant and unforgettable dynamic into the story. Reflecting on her role, Ariana shared, “Tiny Tina is far from ordinary—she’s a force of nature. She’s wild, unpredictable, and definitely not someone you want to mess with. She’s a blast to play because she’s so fearless and fun.”

Cate Blanchett opened up about the evolving relationship between Lilith and Tiny Tina, hinting at the layered complexity of their bond. “At first, Tiny Tina and Lilith are at odds—Tiny Tina even tries to take Lilith out when they first meet. But as the story unfolds, they develop a mutual respect and reliance on each other. Tiny Tina eventually comes to admire Lilith, and their connection becomes a key part of the film’s emotional core,” Blanchett revealed.

Of Kings and Fairy tales – Day 2891

What is it about Badshah and Bangalore that every time he is in the city he rocks it all night. From his first-ever show after MTV Hustle to this unforgettable evening, Badshah fans danced mesmerised. The concert roared a sonic storm of hits from his latest album, Monopoly Moves and tracks like Misfit, Pyaar Humara and Saza became instant anthems. The star-studded show featured India’s rap elite Badshah, Ikka, Karma, Raga, Abhijay Sharma, Gravity, MC Heam, Sikander Kahlon, and Yashraj.

There is clash of titans not just when rival superstars come together for a film but also when contemporary producers collaborate for a success. Toxic: A fairy tale for Grownups is an example of that. Actor- producer Yash and Venkat K Narayana from KVN productions have launched their new project with a puja. We have an old saying, that what is well begun always ends well.

Books & designers – day 2890

She has been a victim, a witness to sex-selection procedures and today, Dr. Aruna Kalra a leading obstetrician and gynaecologist unveils her experiences in an impactful book I Want a Boy, highlighting India’s obsession with male children. The idea is to expose the pressures and the sacrifices mothers make to fulfil this desire of the family.

Kalra shares heartbreaking stories of complicated pregnancies, of selective abortions, and cultural norms in a country that has suffered an estimated 4-12 million aborted female foetuses in the last thirty years. I Want a Boy are stories of desperation, stories of quest compiled by a doctor who absorbed these experiences first-hand and is now sharing it with the world.

In the olden days, budding designers seeking opportunities to showcase their talent sought glossy magazines to promote them. Today, designers get hold of a budding star and make it appear like clothes that make the star. It is a matter of time when Sunny Kaushal will outgrow designers and carve a niche for himself.

The Crow – Day 2889

By Uncategorized

Another fantasy thriller traversing the worlds of the living and the dead is about to hit the
cinema halls. The Crow is a masterful reimagining of James O’Barr’s iconic graphic novel,
delving into the profound and turbulent themes of love, loss, grief, and revenge. It tells the
story of star-crossed lovers, Eric and Shelly, whose lives are tragically interrupted by the
haunting shadows of Shelly’s dark past that leads to their demise. However, in a turn of
events, Eric is resurrected and becomes a man on a mission. Director Rupert Sanders
confesses that The Crow is two films in one- a love story and a revenge story.

Don’t want to disappoint Sanders but most revenge stories in India are usually love stories. It
is when love turns into tragedy that the hero/heroine destroys everything around them.

Triptii Dimri tops – Day 2888

By Uncategorized

Everything about show business is short lived. Triptii Dimri was a pretty girl in Qala the
story of a singer on the OTT platform but post Animal, Dimri has become a household name.
Referred by the media as Bhabhi Number 2. It was hilarious when Ananaya Panday (guest
appearance in Bad Newz) claimed that she was excited to portray Dimri’s story in a
forthcoming film. Nobody believed this except the screenplay writer of Bad Newz.
Anyway, a few fashion shows, some glamorous shoots for covers of glossy magazines and
Tripti has made it to the top spot-on IMDb’s list of most popular Indian celebrities. She is the
flavour of the year and she is enjoying the buzz be it Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Bhool
Bhulaiyaa 3 or Dhadak 2.
Bollywood has always invested in a glamour girl, given her opportunities and then it is up to
the diva whether she can sustain her stardom.
