Talking Cinema- Conversations with Actors & Filmmakers
Publish By Harper & Collins
Released in 2013
Priced at Rs 399/-

What do stars make of a certain role? How do they prepare? What do they think and feel? Cinema is the most effective of all creative mediums. It creates illusions, breaks them and embroils us in an intricate web of magic and imagination. It is a medium where collective effort is a part of storytelling and images are stored in memories of viewers forever.

Bhawana Somaaya has always done indepth interviews with me and other actors. She is passionate about cinema and understands how an actor prepares and this is about an actor/ filmmaker prepares before the shot. Talking Cinema discusses the craft of creativity, a topic not often discussed because artists are superstitious to dissect what is close to their hearts. I know how I prepare as an actor but I don’t how my co-star does. I was always curious to know how other actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan work on their roles. This book gives me a peep into their minds and hearts. Books like Talking Cinema are not easy and can only evolve only when artists trust the writer.
