Baby elephants are always tucked inside their mothers, Moonbeam, however, is a special three-month-old month elephant of the sanctuary during the shooting of Junglee.
Before the shoot, Vidyut was warned to be careful with the little one but Vidyut was in for a surprise when Moonbeam grabbed the prop/ ball and insisted on playing with Jamval and the other elephant on the set called Bhola. This was the first time the baby elephant was interacting with human beings and appeared strangely comfortable.
All actors have to be trained before interacting with animals and since Moonbeam is too young the caretakers thought it was better that Vidyut interacts with Moonbeam’s mother. Probably the trust generated from there because Moonbeam was enjoying the ball game so much that there was no stopping him.
Seeing him so happy Vidyut insisted on Moonbeam being given a separate pool to splash around and have fun. He said humans spend so much time with each other and so little with other animals when in fact he can learn so much more from the animals.
